Kathy and I are going to celebrate our marriage and you are invited. Here's your chance to congratulate me and wish her good luck!

”Where da party at?” you may be axing yourselfs. (After the shock of hearing me actually getting hitched has passed, this would naturally be the first question that pops into the mind). Thanks to my old and most excellent friend Jon and his wife Teresa, we have a locale: His newly acquired house in Maynard , MA which is about 30 minutes driving distance from Boston .

When the party at is Saturday evening, November 29 (going on till the early hours of Sunday morning November 30). Yes it is Thanksgiving weekend and NO that is not an excuse for missing this . Just consider these amazing incentives!

Here's what we won't have:

No gift registries, no altar, no official in funny clothes, no mumbo-jumbo ritual, no bridesmaids in leather miniskirts (there goes one fantasy I'll never see happen), no fancy dresses (I'll wear the kilt of course but that ain't a dress), no boring speeches, no official photographer herding and arranging people into poses for hours on end, no Humvee-limo with purple neon lighting trim to whisk the newly married couple off to some tourist trap in the Bahamas. You get the picture.

Here's what we will most certainly have:

A celebratory gathering of close friends and family. Plenty of good food (Teresa's cooking is legendary if you haven't experienced it yet), good music, good company. Inspired toasts will be tolerated, but only if the toaster has already imbibed plenty of alcohol already. Lots of fun. Designated drivers.

That's da plan. Here's your part - show the hell up!

I need to start arranging housing and transport. There's limited space available for staying on site and more in Cambridge in my pad plus three more friends' houses who have volunteered their extra spaces. We can (if we know how many will be here and when) also block rooms in a Cambridge B&B at a reduced fare. We can arrange carpools to and from Jon's house.

All this apparently takes advance knowledge and planning which is sort of against the grain for me but one's gotta do what one's gotta do, especially for one's wedding do.

So do me a freakin' favour and let us know y'all... ahem... How about: Please, pretty please, with sugar on top, let us know when you'll be coming (note again that IF is not an option) and your preferences as to smoking/non-smoking rooms, kosher, vegetarian, Atkins suitable and/or MI-inducing food, type of transport (will you be flying in, driving, biking, whatever), will you be renting a vehicle if you do fly in, etc. etc. If you feel like there's anything else I need to know, don't hesitate to share.

I needs to make da plans.

MMMkay?
